It was that time of night when the stars were exceptionally bright. The lights of the castle and Cappy Town have long since switched off, the science of electricity no longer in the way of blurring out the sky. Dedede was asleep, the villagers were asleep, all there was was the occasional patter of a Waddle Dee keeping guard—even then, so many of them have lulled off into their own Dream Land.

Sword breathed the night air in—he, Blade, and Meta Knight were probably the only ones awake by this hour. Placing his hands on the edge of the castle balcony, he sighed watching the sky. Meta Knight was who-knows-where, per usual. Blade, he had to be around somewhere. It wasn't often they were seen apart.

Not that he didn't mind, of course. He was perfectly capable of being by himself for some fresh air once in a while. But Blade... it was like he had always been a part of his life. They met in the war, sure, but nowadays, it was like he started breathing with Blade—he couldn't deny it had been rough from the start, without too many fond memories, and then he met Blade—suddenly he had a walking stick to survive in a war-trodden world, and thievery as the only possible means of survival. Then Meta Knight came and saved their lives...

Sword and Blade were never separable since.

"Hey, Sword."

Next thing the green-clad knight knew, his neck was embraced by behind... he turned his head slowly to the right, smiling beneath his mask knowing Blade would be there with that same façaded grin. He too, held him... it was always that time of night the stars smiled upon them, for once. Nothing could stop them now.

Somewhere in the distance, a Waddle Dee blinked, watching the figures hug beneath the moonlight.
