In a slew of curses and a beet-red head, Dr. Robotnik had retreated once more.
His foot atop the switch, Sonic stood as the screw popped away, the Flickies and squirrels huddled together inside what seemed like a faulty time-machine instead of a capsule. They glanced their doe eyes upon their savior, before bidding their way to home and freedom. A stampede of squirrels rushed about, and the sky was covered in a quilt of feathers—it was more than a thank-you for the blue hedgehog.
“He’s out of Emerald Hill…” Tails panted. “It looks like he’s heading towards the Chemical Plant, too…”
“Come on Tails, we can’t let him go that far.” His new-found friend grinned. “This is only the beginning.”
The Doc and Hero were correct—in more than one way.
