Asriel Dreemurr went from being the sweetest little cinnamon roll to becoming an immortal terror named Flowey the Flower. Then a human kid named Frisk came along with stronger reset powers than he did, which he took advantage of to become his most powerful form (an eldritch cactus or Absolute God of Hyperdeath, depending on the timeline), only to be defeated at long last...


2. Purity Ring - bodyache

Not to say Frisk is wholly innocent either, especially if they did Neutral routes (or heaven forbid an Aborted Genocide run) before going full Pacifist. In an odd way, Frisk and Flowey have more in common than they think.


3. Eisley - My Best Friend

I sit and pray about all of the things I've done (I'm so sorry)
And how I wasn't there with you always (I'm so sorry)

Due to absorbing every soul Underground (minus Napstablook's) and Frisk's efforts to reach out to him, Asriel realizes how much pain and suffering he has caused everybody, leading to his sacrifice.


4. Owl City - If My Heart Was a House

We got older and I should have known

That I'd feel colder when I walk alone
(Oh, but you'll survive)
So I may as well ditch my dismay
(Bombs away... Bombs away...)

Circle me and the needle moves gracefully

Frisk remembers Asriel fondly from the short time they've met and said goodbye...


5. Josh Groban - Evermore

I'll fool myself, she'll walk right in
And as the long, long nights begin

Meanwhile, as he waits to turn back into Flowey, Asriel vows to never forget Frisk or how they helped him regain the memory of love and compassion.


6. Iris - Delivered One

Now the violence of love is gone
In exchange for the hopeful ending
I am liking what you've become

You've really changed
Not for the bad
Just rearranged
So the good parts are all that you have

Despite seeing each other at their worst, Frisk and Asriel believe in the good the other possesses inside them. In a way, they really were each other's best friend.


7. matryoshka - Last Wanderlust

You dream of the sea and stars

What disaster do you imagine there?

First verse is Frisk's POV, second verse is Asriel's/Flowey's. Speaks for itself really. The lyrics can be a liiiiiittle breathy and hard to understand, so you can read the rest of them here.

This is the happiest possible ending, right? Just the way things should be? If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

This is a good song for Undertale in general, but it's on the Friskriel/Flowisk fanmix for precisely the lyrics above. Think about it... a kid singing this song to a being who literally can't love.


11. Orgy - Blue Monday

Flowsriel is bitter about being saved, daring Frisk to tell him he should feel grateful or still capable of feeling the slightest sparks of compassion, anticipating their disappointment. Why is Frisk so nice to him? What's left of him that's worth caring about?


12. Plumb - Phobic

I watched you sit alone
I watched you cry your eyes out
Now tell me what you've done

Is it so bad that
I would shut you out
And leave you here alone?

Yes, I saw what you did
I was right there with you
I won't let you sink

Frisk is fully aware of the kind of person Flowey is. It doesn't matter, they forgive him.


13. VERIDIA - Still Breathing

I don't wanna hear that

All I know is we don’t always get a
Happy ending
It’s not about where we are right now

First verse is Flowsriel's POV, second is Frisk's, the final is both of them. Frisk & Flowsriel acknowledge that while life may have kicked their asses before, they're not going to let their pasts define them.

So it's here I stand

Check out this tiny animation clip. For the first time after who knows how long spent Underground, Flowsriel begins to find hope on the surface.


15. Future of Forestry - Slow Your Breath Down

And I'll give you more than years
For you were once a child of innocence
And I see you just the same
Your burdens couldn't win or
Lose a thing

Childhood trauma is a bitch, and Frisk knows even if Flowey becomes Asriel again, he will no longer be the same innocent boy he was before his death. They let him know he's worthy of love and compassion all the same.


16. The Perishers - Sway

I don't want to hurt you
I don't want to make you sway
Like I know I've done before
I will not do it anymore
I've always been a dreamer
I've had my head among the clouds
Now that I'm coming down
Won't you be my solid ground?

Frisk's kindness rubs off on Flowsriel. A definite song for when Asriel gets his soul back, but while Flowey can't promise he won't be an asshole, he has no interest in genocide and promises to never abuse/threaten/kill Frisk or their friends again.


17. Vienna Teng - Never Look Away

Let me uncover the silver in your dark hair
The weight of your bones
I want to witness the beauty of your repair
The shape you’ve grown
For you are made of nebulas and novas and night sky
You’re made of memories you bury or live by

So if you’re out there in the cold
I’ll cover you in moonlight

There will always be a Flowey/Hyperdeath inside Asriel, but that doesn't mean he should repress that part of him entirely. A friend of mine said it best: "The fact is emotionally, there IS a storm in [Asriel], and rather than tell him it was bad, Frisk would... encourage it. Cultivate it into something beautiful." Plus lyrics like "We’re gonna photosynthesize and drink up the sunrise" and "For you are made of nebulas and novas and night sky" are totally references to Flowey and Hyperdeath, shh.


18. Björk - Hidden Place

Now I have
Been slightly shy
And I can smell a pinch of hope
To almost have allowed one's fingers
To stroke
The fingers I was given to touch with
But careful, careful
There lies my passion, hidden
There lies my love

First two verses is Asriel's POV, last verse is Frisk's. Shit is getting serious, and a certain someone is close to getting a new soul...

Goes back and forth between Frisk and Asriel's POVs. The lengths the two of them go to let each other know they're worth loving, caring for, and saving.

Whatever the method, Asriel finally has a soul again. But this time, nobody will need to die or give up their freedom/emotions/humanity for a happy ending. (Included "Beauty and the Beast (Reprisal) to make transitions less awkward; the reprisal itself is 43 seconds, so this might as well be one track)
