Forget your fear and want no more...
Dammit, that song had to play while I wrote this. Fitting New Year's song while I think about it too... hehe, I love this holiday. ^^
Well, here's my contribution to the New Year, and the first 15-Minute-Ficlet and piece of writing I've completed for 2005. Have a great one everyone, whether your resolutions break or not. XDDAnd yay, more Shadow! XDD
Title: Lastlight
Author: Jigglypuff in Blue Ribbons
Fandom: Sonic Adventure 2, with Cream included.
Genre: 15-Minute-Ficlet/General
Rating: G
Warnings: None.
Finished: Yes
The snow brushed his quills while he stood, gazing silently at the glowing house before him. It was late at night, all there being but darkness and the flecks of snow flickering about like silver glitter. So this was snow.
Shadow closed his eyes, standing adamantly and apathetic in the freezing weather, arms crossed and his shoes sunk inside the white quilt. He didn’t particularly care about the wind, shivering slightly as he was. He’d find shelter soon—not like he hadn’t before, while the world slowly grown colder. The black hedgehog had been told about snow before, obviously—getting to hold the cool, moldable cotton-ball in his hands however, was quite another.
“Shadow… when we get down to Earth, we could build a snowman. It would be so much fun!”
Poor Maria… poor sick Maria.
They’re laughing in the house now. Tails smiled and his mouth moved inaudible babble, Amy bouncing up and down as she edged closer to her blue hero. Knuckles seemed to be chuckling softly in that small corner of his, a mischievous Rouge sneaking behind him without his notice. Cream held a noisemaker in her hands, laughing and spinning it. And obviously… Sonic. He seemed like the happiest of the bunch, always laughing and with that classic grin—with the exception when Amy wrapped her arms around him, which immediately zapped into a shocked expression.
The wind died a little bit now… the snowflakes softly kissed his eyelids. How long had he been standing here? Shadow knew it certainly had been a while… his toes were beginning to feel numb by now.
Let them have their happiness… he thought. Happy New Year.
Green eyes flickered out the window. Was he spotted? The black hedgehog backed into the darkness of the trees, meshing with the night. No, he didn’t see him…
SMACK!
A wad of snow smacked against Shadow’s forehead, falling into clumps on the innocent blanket.
“Shadow, I know you’re there! Come inside… the ball’s about to drop!”
The black hedgehog was still, red eyes catching the blue blur as it zipped. He smirked, his gloves sinking into the snow and molding it into a sphere.
“Wait up, blue hedgehog… I’ve got a special gift for you too.”

Farewell to dawns seen through saddened eyes
Farewell to pasts to sorrows chained...
