Without you, without you everything falls apart
Without you, it's not as much fun to pick up the pieces...
Goddammit, this song is in my head. It's not the usual "Hee, I'm obsessed with a song!" mood--'cause like, "Perfect Drug" by NIN lives up to its name. oO;;; I'm like, uttering mantras during school here. oO;;; (Wait a minute, I did that with Orgy and "Can't Take This", only I stop myself whenever there's a kid or teacher around so they don't look at me oddly. xDDD Err... nevermind)
I haven't done anything in my creative journal in a while, which is a sin. oO;;; Damn this Burn-Out/Writer's Block/Whatever the hell it is that's making my brain fry. :( I wanna write madly and type like crazy, yet my brain's stuck--and now Chapter 3 of my secret fic is giving me a headache and I'm all "Noooooooeeeeee! T_____T" It's like, I can't think of anything. Dammit, my writing career depends on me to be productive! That, and actually post something to FF.net after it's been something like MONTHS...
Urm, nevermind me. Just enjoy ficlet... Shadow ficlet. Yes, you can guess the song I listened to while writing this. And before you dub me "Wtf!?", no. Bad images here. XD This song better fits Shadow and Sonic. *BRICK*

How long had he been running now? He didn’t know.
Beneath the screams of the city, with towers of metal beneath a gray-brown sky of clouds, Shadow hover-skated beneath the glass-like rain. Desperate—that’s what he was. Was it because of G.U.N’s hoverpods after his tail? Well, there was that.
He twisted around, gathering lightening in his hand. One by one, each machine split and shattered, thunder echoing beneath and above the earth. They were like sheep, crashing one after the other like a set of unique exploding dominoes.
The black hedgehog took a deep breath, him taking an effort just to merely step forward. His breath hung in the air like a cloud—it was chilly here. And he was afraid—but not of the mechanical bodies that lay about him. He held his fist in a clench, the one that sent Chaos Spear. You have to remember to stop breathing…
He fell to his knees, obviously tired. Yet, with a glint from his teeth and the red of his eyes, Shadow was rather satisfied with himself. He was safe now… G.U.N. would have to rethink their plan if they wanted to send robots after him again. And the thrill of these explosions…
His hand bled… the black hedgehog sighed. He had been careless again. The rain continued to splatter upon his back, yet barely did a thing to help the warm crimson liquid seep away. The liquid with the fire and death of his eyes…
Shadow?
His hand shaking, Shadow reached for a lens from one of the robots. He knew that voice, but where? His thoughts were clear, but lost—yet, the face in the mirror…
Shadow? Are you okay?
A girl in a blue dress. Blonde hair, bright smile. Concerned, yet happy to see the face looking back at her, despite the rivulet of blood that drained across her like a rain drop.
My friend… I’m so happy to see you, you know!
The black hedgehog was still, his heart beating like a bat in prison. There was nothing on the glass anymore, except for his reflection. The rain still drowned him, the thunder echoing its hatred… but Shadow closed his eyes, holding the piece of bloody glass to his chest.
Maria… I have never forgotten…
He knew what was missing now.
