This is all Typhie's fault! As soon as I wrote this and played the Distortion World in Platinum, it occurred to me: "Holy crud, I think I ship Cyrus/Cynthia." CUUUUUUUUURSE YOOOOOOOOOOOU. Anyway, I think we know what my favorite Disney song is now. How it's inspired so much twisted material! ;D
Title: Flash Fire
Author: Puri
Fandom: Pokémon
Genre: General/Dark
Rating: PG
Warnings: Themes? Cyrus being Cyrus?
Ships/Characters: One-sided Cyrus/Cynthia
Finished: Yes
Cyrus preferred the solitude, and in a perfect world, everyone would be kept to themselves. There would be no need to touch, no need to love. The new universe would create as it would see fit. The leader of the Galactics snorted at the idea of affection, whatever form it would hold. Infatuation, quixotic romance, pining 'til death do them part, it sickened him how weak it had left the human race. Thankfully, he was above that. With trivial matters cast aside, he would look forward to a desirable future.
He sat down in a red leather chair, watching the fireplace as it crackled with ashes. It intrigued him how fire could create and destroy; build matter and melt it. Soot coughed up and Cyrus blinked as if dust caught in his face. He wiped his aching eyes when he thought he saw a face in the fire... together with dust, ash and wild flame, a visage of a woman formed in the haze. Her dress was black and puffed with cinders, and her hair was long and burning bright. Dark specks caught in her hair, and the kind yet mischievous smile was all too recognizable.
Cynthia? What are you doing here? She wasn't real. This was just a foolish illusion. But her presence excited him, knowing there was a true challenge to be faced. It dealt with fire, and to have fire would give him the power to create and kill, that final key to becoming a god.
But why Cynthia? It was not how he planned it at all. To possess Cynthia shouldn't have his pulse run, her Pokemon shouldn't be so powerful, neither would her friendly chatter leave him with more than just annoyance. He demanded her to return, always, to regain his dominance by stopping her first. That feeling he got from battling her, the power that surged between them... it was such a pity that the Champion was against Team Galactic. She could have been more... she could have been his equal.
Cyrus uncurled his fists on the armrests and grinned, his eyes white and ablaze. Cynthia would be his. To control Cynthia was to control fire. To control fire was to control the world.
