Gah. Semagic is gonna take some used to using again. Meanwhile, have one of my longer works from
pokanon.
Title: To Forgive
Author: Puri
Fandom: Pokémon
Genre: General/Friendship
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Ships/Characters: Mewtwo, Ash
Finished: Yes
Prompt: More fluffy stories? Mewtwo + Ash: Bonding times. Or rather, Ash continuing to prove to Mewtwo not all humans are bad. and then something leads to Ash hugging Mewtwo and Mewtwo has no idea what is going on other than it's kind of nice. sorta.
Why was he doing this? Mewtwo tried to think. Why after all he had done to him and his Pokemon and his kind?
He erased his memory. That was part of it. But Ash persisted. Damn he persisted. And he would've even if he remembered what had happened, remembered that he had given his life for what he believed in, in front of Mewtwo's hatred and apathy. In spite of these things, Ash carried him by the arm to be healed, he finally understood that he, his clones, everything had a place in this world.
Why didn't Ash hate him? Why was he never a monster in his eyes?
Mewtwo would never let it down what the humans did to Amber. Mewtwo would never let it down that Giovanni manipulated him. He still harbored those feelings of anger and he hated himself for it.
You forgive me? He asked Ash, unknowing exactly what he meant.
"Yeah." He said. "It's not your fault. You were just trying to say you belonged here, that's all."
I wanted to kill the humans.
"A lot of Pokemon get mad at humans too. Charizard was like that... he didn't know what to think of me after he evolved. I guess he was afraid I was going to abandon him too, after all we've been through together."
You believe Pokemon can change.
"Of course. We change too. Humans, I mean. Misty said I wasn't that smart, heh."
So you forgive me?
"Yes."
And Pikachu too.
"Of course." Pikachu popped up on his shoulder, squeaking its approval.
If I... truly forgive humans...
"I guess all that anger would be gone, huh?"
Maybe not just against humans. If Mewtwo could learn to forgive, he could learn to forgive himself too. There was something freeing about talking to this human, like he was finally laying some old skeletons to rest.
"Mewtwo. You're a caring Pokemon. I can see that. Even if sometimes we forget to forget. Well... you know what I mean."
Mewtwo didn't respond. Then another thing beyond his understanding happened. Ash was holding him in his arms, laying his head on his chest. The Pokemon just stared at him, unknowing what to do. What was going on?
What... is this?
"Oh? Sorry. It's something I do with Pikachu all the time."
Mewtwo said nothing, still puzzled, but he made no effort to push the human away. It felt a little invading, yet it was clear Ash meant no harm. In fact, it was... Mewtwo couldn't remember what. But it was kind of nice. A little... Sort of.
