He shouldn't let a human surprise him. He created them, didn't he? Proof that Arceus could relate more to humankind than he was comfortable.
So he was close to Damos. Arceus had a soft spot for the man despite all humanity had done, and Arceus loved humans too much to let the asteroid get away with their destruction. He kicked himself for it, especially for being as close to Damos as he already was. He didn't know whether he relished those kicks or if he was ashamed of them.
God, ashamed?
It started innocently enough. They were talking about life and Machina's future. Philosophical conversations regarding humanity and Pokemon. But Arceus had to be curious, didn't he?
"Damos. Is it true that humans have been establishing a bond between themselves and mystical beasts?"
"Yes. We have come to realize that mystical creatures have souls... I'm not saying animals don't have souls, of course. It's just that somehow, mystical beasts have the ability to understand us and relate to us on a human level. This Pichu and I have been close friends since the day we met. Still... there are those who only see mystical beasts as servants and slaves. Marcus didn't believe me when I told him of Heatran. He couldn't believe it thought he was its friend, let alone understood the idea of companionship. What do you think, Arceus? Are mystical beasts capable of sentience?"
"I only create life; I cannot dictate its behavior. Part of creation is learning how to form itself without my intervention. How is a mystical beast born? Are they capable of human sentience or not? Most would consider it over their heads. It is true they can understand human emotions... but I cannot choose which ones can communicate them. Only a few establish themselves with a conscience equal to humankind."
"Are there any mystical beasts who feel this way, Arceus? I already know they believe in us as friends. Is it possible that maybe they could see us as..."
"Yes Damos?"
"...Someone they'd be devoted to, as a mate. It would be impossible to form offspring, of course. Can a human and a mystical beast... love each other? I know it is beyond what most consider normal behavior, but--"
"Damos." Arceus's tone wasn't impatient or condescending. Just kind. "What makes you say that?"
"...Nothing. Just nothing." The man looked up and smiled at Arceus. "You don't need to say anything."
"Damos. Touch me."
So he did. He lay a palm on one of his legs and Arceus said nothing. There was something inexplicably warm about that touch, however simple, and he would've sighed if he was more susceptible. The God lay on his knees, bringing his face on an even level with Damos. Damos was hesitant at first, but as Arceus leaned forward, he nodded, stretching his arms around the Pokemon. He embraced the God, resting his head and his body on his forehead. Arceus took note exactly how small the human was, how fragile even for a man of his build. The God closed his eyes, taking in the touch and the warmth and the calm, and how he could feel the human's heart beating.
Damos lay there for what felt like hours, holding him for as long as he needed, enveloped in the cozy scent of his fur. He hummed in content as Arceus nudged him. In spite of himself, Damos pressed his lips to the God's forehead, departure slow and sweet before laying on his cheek. Arceus didn't answer and he didn't need to, and the pair stayed this way in a dream-like silence.
When Arceus departed from his hold, Damos was sleepy and a little disappointed it ended so soon. The God laid him over a smooth rock bed, busying himself with discarding his pants in gentle tugs. A cold breeze fanned the man's legs and he didn't know what was happening; before Damos could comprehend the situation, the Alpha God leaned forward, locking the human's hips with his mouth without a word.
Damos gave a strangled gasp, and his legs gave out as Arceus had his way with him, and his arms were tense as they struggled for their bearings and grabbed the God's head. It was nothing he ever experienced before, and he buried his face in the Alpha God's forehead as swirls of pleasure consumed him and robbed him of breath. He murmured Arceus's name, stroking him as he pleaded in whispers and cries. It was sheer torture and he didn't want it to end. His hips bucked without meaning to, and he wanted all of it. All of it.
He called for Arceus again and his grip slackened, collapsing as the Alpha God let go and lay him down gently. Damos shuddered, hugging Arceus and trailing many kisses down his forehead while the Pokemon kindly supported him. There, there... Damos... he seemed to channel through him. Before long, his companion was ready to stand, and they gazed over the landscape of Machina. Eventually, there would be talk about the future of this flourishing land to be had.
